INVISIBLE ARCHITECTS – … and of small things the world is built
Ireen Zielonkas Arbeiten verbinden Architektur und Stadtplanung mit Naturwissenschaft. Sie entwickelt einen Denkansatz, der natürliche Organisationsprinzipien als Inspiration für eine effiziente und nachhaltige Stadtentwicklung versteht.

Mit ihren großformatigen Federzeichnungen und einer Lichtinstallation erschafft Ireen Zielonka im Verwalterhaus einen Ort zwischen Mikrokosmos und Stadt.

Grundgedanke der Ausstellung ist die Grabinschrift des Naturforschers Christian Gottfried Ehrenberg, dessen letzte Ruhestätte sich auf dem Friedhof am Verwalterhaus befindet: „Der Welten Kleines auch ist wunderbar und groß. Und aus dem Kleinen bauen sich die Welten.“

Ergänzt wird die Ausstellung durch einen Vortrag der Zeichnerin (Datum und Uhrzeit des Vortrags werden noch bekannt gegeben), der Ehrenbergs Forschungen zu Phytoplankton und Biolumineszenz mit der Frage verbindet: „Welche Parallelen bestehen zwischen marinen und urbanen Ökosystemen, und welche neuen Sichtweisen auf die Stadt der Zukunft können daraus entstehen?“

Ireen Zielonka’s work brings together architecture, urban planning, and the natural sciences. She has developed an approach inspired by natural organisational principles to explore more efficient and sustainable forms of urban development.

Through her large-format pen-and-ink drawings and a light installation, Ireen Zielonka transforms the Verwalterhaus into a space that exists somewhere between a microcosm and the city.
At the heart of the exhibition is the epitaph of the naturalist Christian Gottfried Ehrenberg, whose final resting place is located in the cemetery of the Verwalterhaus: “Even the smallest things in the world are marvellous and great. And from the small, the worlds are built.”

The exhibition is accompanied by an artist talk (date and time of the artist talk will be announced soon) in which Ireen Zielonka connects Ehrenberg’s research on phytoplankton and bioluminescence with the question: “What parallels exist between marine and urban ecosystems, and what new perspectives on the city of the future might emerge from them?”
